QNET has reiterated that it does not facilitate overseas employment, visa arrangements, or travel opportunities, and remains dedicated to combatting fraud.
In response to reports of a suspected fraud operation in Kono District, which allegedly involves individuals posed as QNET agents and foreign nationals currently protected by the police, the lifestyle and wellness company has strongly condemned any misuse of its name for fraudulent purposes.
Cherif Sarr, Regional General Manager for QNET in Central and West Africa, expressed concern that individuals may have been misled by false promises of overseas opportunities, necessitating police intervention. He emphasised that QNET’s business model does not include employment, visa, or travel offers. The company only operates through a product-based direct selling model, where Independent Distributors promote its offerings according to established policies.
Sarr stressed that anyone claiming to represent QNET in providing employment or financial opportunities is acting without the company’s authorisation. QNET enforces strict compliance policies and will take disciplinary action against any member of its network found violating these rules.
To further educate the public and mitigate fraud, QNET launched the “QNET Against Scams” campaign in Sierra Leone. This initiative aims to help the public identify fraudulent activities that misuse its name. Campaign messages have been disseminated through various media, including television, radio, and online platforms, as well as through promotional materials in major cities.
QNET supports awareness of “Model Q,” a term for criminal practices that impersonate its brand to conduct fraud, illegal recruitment, and human trafficking. This practice is distinct from QNET’s legitimate operations.
The company encourages the Sierra Leone Police and other authorities to continue their investigations and has offered to assist in distinguishing valid QNET activities from fraudulent activities.
In line with its commitment to long-term cooperation against fraud, QNET is open to collaborating with Sierra Leonean authorities and stakeholders to develop educational and fraud-prevention initiatives. This follows a successful model in Ghana, where QNET partnered with the Economic and Organised Crime Office to tackle similar issues.
QNET advises the public to verify any claims of employment, travel, visa, or financial opportunities purportedly associated with its name before engaging with them. Concerns regarding the misuse of QNET’s name can be reported through their official website and designated contacts.
As a leading wellness company, QNET aims to work closely with law enforcement and communities in Sierra Leone to enhance public awareness and combat fraudulent activities.
