The Conservation Trust Fund (CTF), led by Director Ahmed Jalloh, met with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MTCA) to enhance collaboration on conservation initiatives in Sierra Leone.
During the meeting, Jalloh outlined the CTF’s objectives and stressed the importance of working closely with relevant government departments to achieve common conservation goals. He pointed out several challenges the Fund faces, including limited engagement with key stakeholders, overlapping institutional roles, and a lack of awareness regarding the Fund’s mission.
Jalloh argued that overcoming these challenges requires stronger partnerships, improved coordination, and deliberate efforts to foster collaboration among institutions involved in conservation, environmental management, and tourism.
The Ministry’s officials provided insights and recommendations aimed at improving inter-agency cooperation and streamlining conservation programme implementation.
Welcoming the CTF delegation, the Senior Permanent Secretary affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to building productive partnerships that support sustainable tourism and environmental conservation. He highlighted that effective collaboration is crucial for achieving national development goals and protecting Sierra Leone’s biodiversity and cultural heritage for future generations.
The visit ended with a mutual commitment from both the CTF and the MTCA to work together in advancing conservation efforts, promoting sustainable resource management, and ensuring that initiatives benefit national development and community well-being.
