The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has opened applications for the 2027 conferment of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) rank. A processing fee of N5 million will apply to private practitioners, while government-employed lawyers will pay N2.5 million.
Applications can be submitted online through the LPPC’s official website, www.lppconline.com, from midnight on 1 November 2026. This notification follows Section 5(2) of the Legal Practitioners Act and the 2022 Guidelines for SAN awards.
Applicants must pay the fee directly into LPPC accounts at Zenith Bank (account number 1014103141) or Guaranty Trust Bank (account number 0213662834). They must also upload proof of payment for verification, after which they will receive a confirmation email before proceeding with their online applications.
All candidates are required to submit clear copies of mandatory and supporting documents. Academic applicants must provide seven physical photocopies of their curriculum vitae and impact statement, along with the recommended flash drives.
Each applicant must also submit five flash drives containing a completed application form downloaded from the portal and copies of their documents. The deadline for online applications is 31 January 2027, with all flash drives due by 4pm on 1 February 2027. Applications that do not meet the guidelines or are submitted late will be rejected.
For more information, applicants can contact the LPPC secretariat at [email protected].
The announcement follows the recent swearing-in of 68 new SANs by Chief Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun during a special Supreme Court session on 12 October 2026, marking the start of the 2026/2027 legal year. The new SANs include 67 advocates and one academic, Professor Nnamdi Onyeka Obiaraeri. Their elevation was approved at the LPPC’s plenary session in July.
