The Commander of the Mining Marshals, Assistant Commandant of Corps John Onoja Attah, has denied allegations linking his unit to an operation that occurred on 16 September at M.I. Wushishi Housing Estate in Minna, Niger State. He stated that the suspended Niger State Commandant, Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, did not have the authority to deploy Mining Marshals for this operation.
In a statement from his office at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, Attah described Aniviye’s claims, made in a publication on 16 October 2026, as false and misleading. He insisted that no personnel from the Mining Marshals participated in the operation, which is currently under investigation by the Justice Mohammed Mohammed Commission of Inquiry.
Aniviye had previously stated that he visited the mining site on 15 September before deploying the Mining Marshals to the area.
