Sierra Leonean pace bowler Samuel Conteh has become only the second player from the country to take 50 wickets in T20 International cricket. He achieved this milestone on Sunday, September 20, 2026, during a match against Botswana in the ILT20 Continent Cup 2026, by dismissing Botswana’s captain, Thatayaone Tshose.
Conteh reached this landmark in his 45th T20I innings, underscoring his consistency as a vital part of Sierra Leone’s bowling lineup. He now joins fast bowler George Sesay, who was the first Sierra Leonean to reach 50 T20I wickets during the T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Qualifier A in May 2026.
Conteh’s achievement highlights Sierra Leone’s emerging presence in international cricket and reflects his significant role in strengthening the national team’s bowling. As the team continues its ILT20 Continent Cup campaign, his experience and wicket-taking skills will be crucial for their success.
