Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has announced a new agreement with Guinea to create mechanisms for addressing migration and integration issues. This follows the Tripartite Border Security Communiqué signed by the Presidents of Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia on 26 March 2026.
Dr Jalloh made the announcement during a meeting with the Sierra Leonean community in Conakry, where he was hosted by Guinea’s Prime Minister, Amadou Oury Bah. He explained that the new mechanisms would provide a structured approach to tackling challenges faced by Sierra Leoneans in Guinea, enhance border security cooperation, and ensure that commitments made by the three nations are upheld.
He urged Sierra Leoneans to register with the Embassy and obtain consular identification cards, while also stressing the importance of adhering to local laws and regulations.
The Vice President highlighted that discussions also focused on improving trade and economic cooperation between Sierra Leone and Guinea, aiming for greater collaboration to boost commerce, investment, and industrialisation. He noted that stronger institutional engagement would help resolve practical issues affecting both businesses and citizens, thereby deepening ties between the two countries.
Dr Jalloh was accompanied by several ministers, including Chernor Bah (Information), Morie Lengor Esq. (Internal Affairs), Umaru Napoleon Koroma Esq. (Labour and Social Security), and Madam Jeneba Bangura (Deputy Foreign Affairs). The meeting was organised by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Guinea, Foday Yumkella, and Deputy Ambassador, Madam Fatmata Sawaneh.
