The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has claimed that Senator Abdulaziz Yari, head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, admitted the Federal Government lacks credible solutions to the ongoing security crisis.
Kola Ologbondiyan, ADC-PCC’s Director of Media and Publicity, made the remarks following Yari’s comments on insecurity during a visit to Kebbi State on Monday. Yari stated, “If Buhari, a retired military man, could not eradicate insecurity, what do people expect from Tinubu?”
Ologbondiyan described Yari’s statement as a serious indictment of the APC government and a troubling admission from a senior figure tasked with promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election. He questioned the APC’s ability to tackle insecurity and the validity of seeking another presidential term.
He stated, “For a party in power for nearly 12 years, this represents a shocking admission of failure. Instead of inspiring confidence, Yari’s comments reinforce the perception that the ruling party lacks solutions to the nation’s security challenges.”
Ologbondiyan highlighted that Nigerians continue to face issues such as banditry, terrorism, and kidnappings, which leave communities vulnerable and families fearful. He emphasised that Yari’s comments suggest that if a former military leader could not resolve insecurity, expectations for President Tinubu are low.
He further questioned how the APC can ask for another four years when its own leaders express doubts about its candidate’s ability to ensure security. Ologbondiyan reiterated the need for responsible leadership that offers practical solutions rather than excuses.
The ADC, in contrast, positions Atiku Abubakar as a credible alternative, highlighting his experience and vision for national security and economic recovery. Ologbondiyan insisted that overcoming insecurity requires competent leadership, effective coordination among security forces, and investment in personnel welfare.
He urged Nigerians to reflect on Yari’s comments and consider the implications of another four years under the APC. “If the APC can’t convincingly outline how it will secure the nation, why should Nigerians trust it with more time?” he asked, presenting the choice between continuing with the APC and supporting a viable alternative committed to public safety.
