According to Stockholm police spokeswoman Susanna Rinaldo, the man was injured and taken to hospital. His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
Rinaldo did not specify the weapon involved, noting the police operation is ongoing, but assured that there is no threat to the public. Swedish newspaper Expressen reported that the man approached palace guards with a knife and demanded to be shot.
Police have since launched an investigation into “aggravated threats against a public official” and an aggravated knife offence, but did not provide further details.
