African ambassadors and senior diplomats in Sierra Leone recently honoured former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba, at a farewell reception in Freetown.
The event was hosted by the Egyptian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E. Rasha Soliman, at the Egyptian Residence, supported by the African Group of Ambassadors and Chargés d’Affaires.
The gathering included ambassadors and other members of the African diplomatic corps, who gathered to celebrate Kabba’s contributions before his departure from the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Ambassador Soliman praised Kabba as a “distinguished statesman, a true pan-Africanist, and a dear brother,” noting his role in enhancing Sierra Leone’s diplomatic relations with other African nations. She highlighted the importance of President Julius Maada Bio’s state visit to Cairo in March 2025, which marked a significant milestone in the bilateral ties between Sierra Leone and Egypt.
She remarked that Kabba’s tenure was a time when diplomatic relations transformed into meaningful cooperation, stating, “Your tenure was a golden era in which we translated diplomatic goodwill into tangible results for our peoples.” Soliman expressed confidence that the Egyptian Embassy and other African diplomatic missions in Sierra Leone would remain supportive of Kabba in his future pursuits, wishing him success as he moves on from the ministry.
