Visa has partnered with Senegal’s Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Affairs by signing a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering the country’s digital transformation.
This collaboration focuses on enhancing digital payments, financial innovation, cybersecurity, and regulatory frameworks, while also exploring impactful ways to modernise public services and expand access to digital financial services. It is the first such agreement between Visa and a Senegalese government body and is designed to create opportunities aligned with national priorities through structured public-private dialogue.
The partnership will include initiatives for payments from individuals to the government and vice versa, aiming to streamline interactions between citizens and public services. It will also involve knowledge sharing on cybersecurity and financial innovation to ensure safe access to digital finance.
Mr. Samba Diouf, Senegal’s Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, stated, “This strategic partnership with Visa marks a decisive step forward in our efforts to accelerate the New Deal Technologique. Now is the time for action; we must move from intent to tangible results by deploying practical, secure and inclusive solutions that address the everyday needs of Senegalese citizens.”
Aminata Kane, Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager for Visa Western & Central Africa, expressed pride in supporting Senegal’s ambitions, highlighting the goal of identifying opportunities to enhance access to digital services and develop the payments ecosystem sustainably.
This partnership aims to align national needs with Visa’s expertise, encouraging local digital payment solutions that simplify everyday life for citizens.
