The Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Chernor Mamoud Jalloh, reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to providing excellent service and managing contributors’ funds wisely at the launch of Customer Service Week on Monday, 5th October 2026, at the Youyi Building in Freetown. Addressing management, staff, stakeholders, and pensioners, he described NASSIT as a vital part of the nation, stressing the shared responsibility to uphold and enhance its performance. “We not only have to deliver on this promise, but we also must do so with excellence,” he stated.
Mr Jalloh highlighted plans for full automation of the pension administration process, announcing the introduction of a new Pension Administration System (PAS). This initiative aims to eliminate delays, improve transparency, and boost customer satisfaction by streamlining claims, payments, and record management. This automation is part of a broader strategy to modernise NASSIT and restore public trust in timely pension deliveries.
He also mentioned plans to extend social security to the informal sector. To facilitate this, he has elevated the Informal Sector Secretariat to a full division, aiming to empower workers and enhance outreach and registration efforts. “We want to get workers from the market to the farm under the NASSIT Scheme,” he added.
During the event, Mr Jalloh acknowledged the contributions of staff who have served the Trust for over 20 years, thanking them for their dedication during challenging times and encouraging support for the new management team.
Madam Jenneh Jabati, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, reiterated promises of efficient service and prudent investments, offering the new management her full backing during the reform process.
The customer service head described the department as the Trust’s face and voice, announcing this year’s theme for Customer Service Week, “The Extra Mile,” which reflects NASSIT’s commitment to exceeding stakeholder expectations.
Madam Mafullay Bangura, representing beneficiaries and pensioners, praised NASSIT for ensuring prompt monthly payments compared to previous delays, bringing hope to retirees. “NASSIT is our source of living. We are thankful,” she stated.
Madam Lucy Harding concluded the event by expressing gratitude to the Director General, the Board Chairperson, pensioners, and staff for their efforts. Meanwhile, Customer Service Week activities continue with a mobile service centre set up at the Youyi Building to assist members directly.
