Mashatile emphasised the importance of turning investment pledges into tangible results at a conference in Limpopo, themed “From Pledges to Progress: Accelerating Implementation and Unlocking Investment.” He stated that while investment commitments are crucial, their real value lies in fostering new businesses, expanding industries, and creating decent jobs for local communities.
Since its launch last year, the conference has successfully promoted Limpopo as an investment hotspot, mobilising R452.38 billion in pledges from 2021 to 2025, with R71.058 billion translating into actual investments, leading to the creation of 23,968 jobs.
Mashatile described Limpopo as well-positioned for growth, citing its rich mineral resources, fertile land, strategic location, and increasing industrial capacity. He pointed out that sectors like mining, agriculture, and renewable energy offer significant opportunities for economic expansion.
He insisted that increased trade should stimulate local production, strengthen value chains, attract new industries, and create sustainable jobs. He urged investment in essential infrastructure, including energy, water security, transport, and digital connectivity, to enhance competitiveness.
Mashatile called for improved project preparation to make promising projects investment-ready, enhancing confidence among investors. He noted that successful economic transformation requires collaboration between government, business, and communities, underscoring that capable local governments are crucial for delivering services and attracting investment.
With local government elections approaching, Mashatile stressed the need for strong municipal leadership to uplift communities and ensure that investment commitments translate into real benefits. He reassured investors that the emphasis on accountability and measurable outcomes at the conference is vital for building trust and progress.
