Sierra Leone’s Vice-President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh announced that Sierra Leone and Guinea have established new mechanisms to address issues related to migration, border security, and trade. This announcement came during his briefing with the Sierra Leonean community at the embassy in Conakry, hosted by Guinea’s Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah.
Dr Jalloh explained that these mechanisms would provide a structured approach to address challenges faced by Sierra Leoneans in Guinea, enhance cooperation on border security, and ensure that commitments made under the Tripartite Border Security Communiqué, signed on 26 March 2026, are honoured.
He urged Sierra Leoneans to register at the embassy and acquire consular identification cards while respecting local laws.
The discussions also emphasised enhancing trade and economic cooperation, as both nations aim for closer collaboration to promote commerce, investment, and industrialisation. Dr Jalloh highlighted that stronger institutional ties would help overcome practical difficulties impacting businesses and citizens, further strengthening relations between the two countries.
Accompanying the Vice-President were Chernor Bah, Minister of Information and Civic Education; Morie Lengor, Minister of Internal Affairs; Umaru Napoleon Koroma, Minister of Labour and Social Security; and Jeneba Bangura, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The engagement, attended by Sierra Leoneans from the diaspora, was organised by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Guinea, Foday Yumkella, along with Deputy Ambassador Fatmata Sawaneh.
