Trump spoke to several US media outlets throughout the evening, adopting a conciliatory tone and acknowledging that the Democrats performed well. He stated he would accept the election results and looked forward to collaborating with the opposition party. However, as president, he still plans to exercise his veto power over any legislation put forward by Democrats in Texas.
In his remarks, Trump distanced himself from certain Republican candidates in the election, saying, “In some cases they didn’t like the candidates, and in some cases those candidates were not my friend.” He also recognised that the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, which has affected consumer prices in the United States, played a role in the outcome, remarking, “Iran was a piece of it.”
