The nine-span flyover took 11 months to complete and was awarded in 2025 to the Chinese firm, Eighteenth Engineering Company. Alongside this, the government also commissioned several school projects, including Larawaram Community Senior Secondary School and Shehu Sanda Kyarimi 1 Primary and Junior Day Secondary School. Additional projects included a dualised 2.5km road and a 5km drainage system in Kasuwan Shanu.

Speaking after the commissioning on Sunday, Zulum noted that the flyover aims to reduce traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and facilitate the movement of people and goods along one of Maiduguri’s key transport routes. He stated, β€œThe Post Office nine-span flyover was constructed at a cost of fifteen billion, nine hundred and fifty-eight million, five hundred and eighteen thousand, six hundred and forty-seven Naira, twenty-one kobo only, and completed within 11 months.”

The governor also confirmed that the road and drainage projects were completed at a cost of ₦5,002,552,300.08. β€œWe are equally commissioning the 2.5km dualised road and 5km of drainage from the Budum Tandari Junction to Kasuwan Shanu,” he added, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving transport infrastructure for economic and social development.

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, who attended the event, praised Zulum for the project, saying it would greatly benefit the residents. He remarked, β€œThis is one of the projects we will be commissioning today, built for the benefit of humanity and for the people.” Sule congratulated the people of Maiduguri, emphasizing that they would be the primary beneficiaries of the new facilities.
