The Vice-Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria recently visited Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to explore collaboration between the university and the Nigeria Police Force.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude for the police’s ongoing support in securing the university community and praised the Inspector-General’s leadership in enhancing Nigeria’s security sector. He noted that the university’s success relies, in part, on the security personnel who protect its members.
The Inspector-General welcomed the visit, highlighting potential areas for collaboration such as professional training, research, and knowledge sharing. He pointed out that many police officers are keen on further education and proposed that Nile University students could undertake internships with the police force, particularly in cybersecurity.
In response, the Vice-Chancellor affirmed the university’s commitment to lifelong learning and its ability to provide flexible opportunities for professionals looking to further their education. He stressed the importance of equipping graduates with practical skills and mentioned the university’s partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) as an example of its focus on industry-relevant education.
The Vice-Chancellor also invited the Inspector-General to the university’s upcoming convocation ceremony. The meeting served as a platform to discuss mutual interests, notably in cybersecurity, professional development, applied research, and student engagement in industry practices.
