Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has urged Sierra Leoneans to embrace Proportional Representation to enhance political inclusion and boost women’s representation in national decision-making.
Speaking on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at the conclusion of the National Unity and Social Cohesion Conference at the Bintumani Conference Centre in Freetown, he emphasised the importance of inclusion in fostering trust and strengthening relationships among citizens. “One critical pathway to building trust and cohesion is to progressively address the fears of exclusion and social injustice,” he said.
He expressed the need for fair participation and restoring confidence in the decision-making processes. Dr Jalloh asserted that increasing women’s representation and promoting broader political inclusion are essential for national unity. His call for support of Proportional Representation linked the electoral reform to wider themes of peace, trust, and social justice.
The conference, organised by the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion, challenged stakeholders to translate their commitments to unity into actionable steps that address citizens’ concerns.
