Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé scored twice to secure a 2-1 victory against Barcelona, ending the hosts’ perfect start to the domestic league season on Sunday.
Mbappé opened the scoring in the 41st minute after a Barcelona defender’s failed clearance allowed the ball to fall to him before he sent it into the net.
Barcelona’s captain Raphinha equalised in the 61st minute, giving the home side hope of extending their unbeaten run.
However, Mbappé struck again in the 87th minute with a brilliant assist from substitute Eduardo Camavinga, sealing the win for Real Madrid and boosting their chances in the La Liga title race.
This defeat is a significant blow for Barcelona, who were aiming for their tenth consecutive league victory—an achievement no team has managed this season.
Madrid’s win not only emphasizes Mbappé’s crucial role but also positions them closer to their rivals at the top of the league table.
