The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) has reminded all passengers using Freetown International Airport that completing the Health Declaration Form is mandatory. Failure to do so could result in being denied boarding.
In a notice dated 21 October 2026, signed by Director General Musayeroh Barrie, the SLCAA urged travellers to fill out the forms prior to arriving at the airport. Passengers must ensure their forms are completed and ready for verification to avoid travel disruptions and facilitate a smoother process.
The SLCAA also called on airlines, travel agencies, and other stakeholders to inform passengers about this requirement and encourage adherence.
Passengers can access the official Sierra Leone Health Travel Portal, managed by the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), at poep.npha.gov.sl. Forms must be completed no more than 72 hours before travel. Travellers need to log in or register, select the appropriate form, provide necessary information, and submit it for verification. It is important to keep the submission confirmation or QR code to show officials if asked.
This requirement applies to all passengers, including Sierra Leonean citizens and foreign nationals.
The latest notice reinforces a requirement launched in June 2026 aimed at enhancing border health security and improving disease surveillance. The digital health declaration helps monitor public health and identify potential risks at the country’s entry points.
The SLCAA emphasises that passengers should complete the process before arriving at the airport and recommends checking requirements ahead of their journeys. The authority remains committed to ensuring safe, orderly, and efficient air transport operations in Sierra Leone. Passengers are encouraged to complete their health declarations using the official Health Travel Portal before they travel.
