Hon. Chernor Bah, Minister of Information and Civic Education, welcomed a delegation from Malawi on 5th October 2026 for a ten-day knowledge-sharing programme in Sierra Leone. The focus will be on civic education, institutional coordination, peacebuilding, local governance, and citizen engagement. Minister Bah hosted the delegation at the Youyi Building and emphasised the importance of mutual learning and collaboration.
He highlighted that the programme would offer practical insights into Sierra Leone’s approach to civic education and public participation, while also allowing the Malawian delegates to share their own experiences. Bah noted that the Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education and Development (NaCCED) and the Permanent Secretary would lead the discussions and encouraged the Malawians to utilise their time to engage with local institutions and foster lasting partnerships.
Recalling his visit to Malawi fifteen years ago, Bah spoke fondly of the warmth and pride of the Malawian people. He invited the delegation to extend their stay to fully experience Sierra Leone’s culture and cuisine.
Bah expressed hope that this exchange would further strengthen ties between the two countries, with the aspiration of a reciprocal visit from a Sierra Leonean delegation to Malawi in the future. The programme aims to enhance cooperation in peacebuilding and local governance, improve institutional coordination, and engage citizens more effectively in democratic processes.
