ALAF Limited launched its eighth internal football league over the weekend, part of the company’s health and wellness initiative. The event took place at Coco Beach and featured a 5km jog attended by members of the ALAF jogging club and other stakeholders.
This popular league includes teams made up of ALAF employees, each named after a product brand: Simba Dumu, Simba Chuma, Maxcover, Safcool, and Safthem.
Lincoln Duplessis, ALAF’s Head of Finance, highlighted the league’s role in promoting physical activity and fostering a productive workforce. “At ALAF, we prioritise our employees’ health, which is why we created the ALAF Premier League. It not only offers competition but also builds team spirit,” he said.
Duplessis also noted that regular physical activity can reduce the risk of chronic diseases and improve heart health.
Rehema Amry, ALAF’s Human Resource Business Partner, added, “Prioritising health and fitness sets a cultural standard, encouraging employees to value their well-being. Investing in health through sports is a long-term strategy for sustainable growth and success.”
She emphasised that healthier employees lead to lower healthcare costs and that team sports encourage communication, enhancing workplace relationships.
Charles Wencenslaus, ALAF Sports Chairman, expressed optimism for this year’s league, stating it was competitive last year and noting, “Our goal is to develop a unified team that represents ALAF in various sporting events while promoting teamwork within the company.”
