Chernor Mamoud Jalloh, Director-General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), and his Deputy, Mohamed Orman Bangura, engaged with journalists and social media bloggers at a media cocktail event on 21st October 2026 at the Country Lodge Hotel in Freetown. They underlined their commitment to accountability, transparency, and leadership while encouraging stronger collaboration with the media.
Mr Jalloh described the event as an opportunity to foster closer relationships with the press, aiming for a lasting partnership rather than a mere formal press conference.
He urged journalists to help improve NASSIT’s performance while also reminding them of their duty to hold the institution accountable for its decisions and resource management. He welcomed constructive criticism and encouraged a spirit of cooperation despite differing opinions.
Jalloh emphasised the seriousness of his role, asserting his willingness to be accountable for his actions. “I report what I do, and I am ready to answer any questions,” he stated, assuring journalists of his openness to engage with them. He concluded by affirming the importance of his responsibilities to the country and expressed his commitment to fulfilling them with the support of colleagues and stakeholders.
