Cole Palmer has signed a contract extension with Chelsea, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2034. The England forward’s previous contract, which was set to expire in 2033, has now been improved to add an extra year.
“I’m delighted to sign, and I’m obviously very happy. Chelsea means a lot to me, and I think the club is going in the right direction,” said the 24-year-old. “The owners, sporting directors, and manager gave me a lot of confidence, so it felt right to commit.”
Palmer expressed that all his teammates share the same ambitions, aiming to consistently win major trophies, which he wants to be part of.
Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, Palmer has contributed 91 goals and assists in 138 appearances. However, he faced a challenging season last year due to a persistent groin injury and was controversially omitted from England’s World Cup squad by manager Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel remarked that Palmer has “missed too many opportunities” to represent England after withdrawing from recent Nations League fixtures.
Chelsea’s manager, Xabi Alonso, defended Palmer, asserting his commitment to the national team and highlighting the need for him to regain full fitness to deliver his best performance.
Palmer has made a strong start to the current season, scoring four goals in seven appearances across all competitions. His close friendship with Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa this summer, also played a role in his extended commitment to the club.
His new deal is part of a trend at Chelsea, with recent contracts issued to fellow players Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto extending into the 2030s.
