Limpopo has secured over R450 billion in investment commitments over the past five years, according to Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba. At the launch of the 2026 Limpopo Investment Conference, set to take place next month at The Ranch Resort in Polokwane, she noted that R170 billion of this was pledged at last year’s event, creating more than 23,000 jobs.

Ramathuba highlighted that these figures represent strong confidence in Limpopo but also bring responsibilities. “An investment commitment must not remain a mere statistic,” she said. “It must lead to projects, construction, production, employment, and sustainable economic activity.”

The upcoming conference will focus on how to implement these commitments effectively. The theme, “From Pledges to Prosperity: Accelerating Limpopo’s Industrial Future,” reflects their aim to move from pledging to executing viable projects.

Her priorities for the investment strategy include mineral beneficiation and green energy, agricultural modernisation and agro-processing, and developing special economic zones and infrastructure. She stressed the need to move past merely exporting resources to creating products that enhance local economies.

Ramathuba explained that Limpopo’s young population is a vital asset and that the government aims to foster an economy capable of providing meaningful opportunities. She also addressed the importance of tapping into new technologies, including information and communication technologies and artificial intelligence.

Expecting new investment commitments to surpass R120 billion, she emphasised that the focus should be on the quality and sustainability of these investments. “We want to see investment that builds capacity, supports local businesses, and creates jobs,” she added.

The provincial government has been actively engaging with investors, preparing projects, and addressing challenges ahead of the conference. “Limpopo is open for business, partnership, and innovation,” Ramathuba concluded, inviting the business community to collaborate in unlocking the province’s economic potential.
